FOR "THE BOYS."

CHEERIO MESSAGES. WEEK'S HAPPY THOUGHT. Xews from home is the most inspiriting experience possible for any member of our forces engaged in active service in parte of the Empire. It recalls memories of friends, relations and happy days and events in the far-off native land.

The "Star's" cheerio news service provides the exiled New Zealand soldier, sailor and airman with this, and more. It gives each man addressed a personal message from home friends and relatives, enclosed in a setting of the current sporting evente in which most of "our boys" played their part before going abroad to do their bit for the Empire. It gives them the happiest of greetings in the happiest of settings.

What ia more, the cheerio message is a joyous spotlight. Brief, bright and snappy, it comes from the heart of a pal or loved one with a special personal meaning to the person addressed. And it is a flash message, requiring no tedious effort of letter writing, but expressing just a happy thought or incident which will recall the home and frionds in New Zealand.

"Cheerios" for each Saturday night's Sports Edition must be handed in at, or posted to reach the "Star" Office, Shortland Street, by 9 p.m. on Thursday. A fee of 2/6 covers the actual message of 15 words, with a charge of 9d extra for each set of five worde above the original 15. The name, rank and regimental number of the addressee should be sent with each message, and are not charged for, but are required to enable a free copy of the Sporte Edition to be sent, post paid, to the man addressed.
