TRAGIC FATE.

Death Of Hinemoa Rosieur In England.

A Press Association cable from London states that the well-known singer, Miss Hinemoa Rosieur, of Auckland, was killed by a bomb.

The High Commissioner for New Zealand, Mr. W. J. Jordan, attended the funeral.

Miss Rosieurwas a well known Auckland dramatic eoprano and was the first vocalist to win the Melba. Scholarship. She left New Zealand for Melbourne in '1D34, and after studying there for four yeare left for London in March, 1038, where she continued her studies under leading teachers. She had. had many London engagements- and' had sung several times before Royalty. She "was also understudying prominent operatic singers.

When war broke out ehe commenced nursing' in a hospital in London, where shfi wae known ae "the singing nurse" and was continuing her musical studies at the same time.

She was aged about 27.

Miss Rosieur sang for many years in St. Benedicts choir. Recently in London she sang at the New Zealand Artists' Conference and according to news recently received had been about to sing at Covent Garden.

Miss Bosieur's mother, Mrs. Mary Rosieur, ie. at present residing on North Shore. She has several sisters living in Auckland and a brother in Napier.
