REPORT FROM SWEDEN Postponed Owing To Efficiency Of Air Defences. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Reed. 1 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 18. The gale has dropped in the Straits of Dover, but a big sea is still running. . A Stockholm message reports that the "Allenhanda" Berlin correspondent says the German plan for the invasion of Britain has been temporarily postponed in view of the efficiency of anti-aircraft defences and Royal Air Force fighters. The systematic destruction of Britain's south-east coast, however, will continue, especially the bombing of ports and air fields. SUBMARINE. LOST. NARWHAL LONG OVERDUE. British Official Wireless. (Reed. 2 p.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 18. An Admiralty communique states that the submarine Narwhal is overdue and must be considered lost. The Narwhal, which was completed in 1936, had a displacement of 1520 tons, a length of 27Uft, a beam of 25* ft and a depth of loft. Her armament consisted of one 4in gun, two machine-guns and six 21in torpedo tubes. Her complement was 00.
