VETERANS' PENSIONS.
The Veterans' Act has been altered again, and on inquiry I was. <o!d that not only must you have been under fire with a New Zealand force and be over fiO years of age, but you must be *o ill that you cannot hold down a position. How many of us, well or ill. at tlite act?, have any chance of holdincr a position? If suitable you get £1 5/ a week or 17/ C added to the old age pension, which, of course, is quite :r<>rxi. But what about the poor fellows who joined whpn over ape and wptc not hiklt fire, and at the ajre of 70 are in 2-ood health? Though unemployed and likely to remain so. they can get no a=*i?tance hpyond the pension.
