Sub-Lieutenant Merritt is the fourth son of Mr. H. T. Merritt to join up with the Imperial Forces. The other throe eons, all of whom have now obtained commissions, are Lieutenant Harry George. Chisholm Merritt, Second-Lieu-tenant Neville Forbee .Harcourt Merritt, and Sub-Lieutenant Alexander lan Merritt. Lieutenant H. G. C. Merritt was in the Indian Army until 1935, when he retired for health reasons after serving in two campaigns on the North-West Frontier. He was called up on the outbreak of war, and is now serving with the Royal Armoured Corps, 52nd Heavy Brigade. Second-Lieutenant Harcourt Merritt, who was in England at the outbreak of war, volunteered and was granted a commission in the Roval Norfolk Regiment. He was sen-ing "with his regiment in France before the German invasion of the Low Countries, and took part in the evacuation at Dunkirk, after a retreat of 130 miles, living «<6 n tne country" all the way. Sub-Lieut. Lan Merritt joined the Navy after leaving college in England, and since the beginning of the war has been serving in H.M. destroyer Wiehart.
