WIFE OF INTERNEE. DISMISSAL OF CHARGE. (By Air.) SYDNEY, Sept. 14. A charge of assault brought by an Englishwoman against a German lodging house keeper, Mrs. Freda Schwabe, of 39, George Street North, was dismissed at Central Summons Court this week. The Englishwoman, Mrs. Elizabeth Mary Martin, said: "On September 3, at 9.30 p.m., Mrs. Schwabe came to my room and asked me for my rent. I took it down to her, and she said, 'Kindly teach your husband manners, as you are teaching your niece.' I said, 'How dare you,' and she replied, 'You low-down English skunk.' I then called her a dirty German, and she punched me on the ear and pulled my hair down. It was a heavy blow, and I saw stars for a minute. Then she ordered me out of •the room, and I called to my husband, Daddy, daddy, she is pulling my hair. , Mrs. Schwabe said, "I am proud I am a German.'" Freda Schwabe eaid that after her husband had been interned she noticed a changed attitude in Mr. and Mrs. Martin, who had resided with her for 14 months. She said: "To my garden Mr. Martin did some destruction. He acted like the landlord. He burned my ferns. I told Mrs. Martin he should be different. If he did not like the place, they could go. I said disturbances they must not make, and she pushed me about and slapped my face. I did not hit her with my fist, but with the hand open. Her husband he has said I should be interned with my husband, then he and his wife would take the place. Her husband he say he is no more paying any rent. "Two days }ater Mrs. Martin say ehe will not proceed, as she is sorry. I say I too am sorry. She say she "was terrified of her husband. So we shake the hands together. I say I reepect her English nationality. I only smack her a little like she smack me, and there was only a little red mark on her cheek."
