"THE WESTERNER."
ATTRACTION AT CIVIC. Thrilling adventure against a spectacular background makes "The Westerner." the tearure that opens a season at the Cms ineatre on Fnday, one of the outstanding action pictures of the vear and a fit vehicle for Gary Cooper, who takes the leading role. Here is a storv about the feud between the cattlemen, original settlers oj the land, and the homesteaders seeking to till that land which lies west of the Pecos River in Texas. Walter Brennan plays the judge, whose interpretation oi justice hangs upon his whims, and most outstanding of these whims is his reverence for Lily Langtry, here portrayed by Lilian Bond. This is a great story, magnificently told, full of the bitterness of men and the beauty of women. It is the story of naming feuds and new frontiers.
