Speaker Appointed
MR. S. RAYBURN succeed* ITI the late Mr. W. B. Bankhead as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, says a cable from Washington. Mr. Sam Ray burn was born in Tennessee in 1882 and was educated at East Texas College and the University of Texas.' He was first elected to Congress as a representative for Texas in 1913, and has retained his seat ever since. ' He is a member of the Democrat party.
