"BOOTS AND ALL."

Are we at war or not? It is * monstrous thing and a crying disgrace ■both to Auckland and Sew Zealand that troops in training had to be removed so that the ground vacated be available for a race meeting. It makes one's blood boil to see such a -want of patriotism, and feeling for those im the Homeland who are undergoing such a dreadful ordeal. When talking to a man about it he said, "New Zealand is not at war and I want my day's racing." Sport is all right, in its proper place and time, but when placed before the training of men to defend if need be their country it is time to call a halt. This is a country which is up to the neck in the war. ''boots and all." The workers' vote must not be lost. EDWARD BELLERBY.
