CORRESPONDENTS' VIEWS.

ON BEIHG CHEERFUL. (To the Editor.) Don't yon think it high time that the people living in New Zealand should wake np to the fact that the conditions they are living under are marvellous? We here have nothing to complain about. We go to bed each night, knowing that we are safe, and with no fear of being turned out. We have plenty to eat and drink, and, what is toot*. nowadays we have the money to boy what we want and as much as is necessary for our health, without having it rationed. I say this,, that the ones who get the most, or the ones who call out the loudest for more have, most of them, never known what it is to be on sustenance for three or four years. UTry worry if they have nothing left for their week's wages. The next week brings more, and they are provided for, better than ever they have been, in sickneses and old age, as well as maternity benefits, etc To my mind, ! the least everyone can do is to take I everything smiling. and chins up, and not give way to complaining while this war is on. We should be very grateful for small mercies. The powers that be have enough to worry them at the present time. It is no small matter to be at the head of affairs in these troublous times. For my part, while I have not a surplus of ready cash, Fm better off and happier than I have been for a long time. I make an appeal to everybody to make the best of everything. Remember we are not in London and be thankful. APPRECIATIVE MOTHER.
