THE DATES FOR 1941. AUCKLAND EDUCATION AREA. Dates for terms and vacations in the 1941 school year were, fixed at a meeting of the Auckland Education Board this morning. In the primary schools, the first term | will begin on Tuesday, February 4, and j will continue until Friday, May 9, a period of 0.3 days excluding Good Friday, Easter Monday and Tuesday and Anzae Day. The second term begins on Tuesday, May 27, and extends to Friday, August 22 (63 days, excluding King's Birthday). Tuesday, September 9, will be the starting date for the third term, which will close on Friday. December 19 (73 days, excluding Labour Day). It was stated that this arrangement differed from that suggested by the Department in that the opening day, of each term would be a Tuesday instead of a Monday. The total of 402 half-days would allow for the grantins of one of the three special holidays usually allowed at the discretion of the committees. The term dates adopted for the Otahuhu Technical High School agreed with those suggested by the Department. The. dates are the same as in the case of the primary schools, except that the third term begins on Tuesday, September 10, and ends on Wednesday, December 17 (06 clays). The total number of half-days would be 388.
