Purple Penguins (St. Heller's)—Jeai Williamson sends on behalf of this club : pair or soldiers' mittens, 35 fine patche and a pa-ir of baby mittens. Thanks fo your lovely letter. From the Purple Pen (ruins themselves' came all sorts or Inter esting things, live lemons, a set of doll' .clothes, various other little articles, an< seven patches. In another parcel were i pair or child's bed socks, some well-kep used baby garments, and quite a wonder nil collection or lining patches. Little Helpers (Takapuna)—From the Little Helpers came the splendid gift o 10/, raised through a concert, 3G ver: excellent patches, two used bonnets am a pair or gaiters. These busy little Sun beams wish to say a sincere "Thank you' to their kind rrlcnd, Mrs. Blchards. Lavender Sunbeams (Takapuna)—A cos; cot quilt of club material, lined wltl tweed, and another single bed size made rrom "Star" patches, lined with "Star' material and bordered with club material were very uscftil girts. Thanks to Dawi and little Diana. Jovial Workers (.Mount Albert) —Thank: to these girls ror a line cot quilt, partlj or "Star" and partly or club material, i Jolly lit-tle pram eiderdown, two woollj capes, two pairs of mittens and two pair: or bootees. J's Club (Mount Eden)—Thanks'to these Mount Eden friends or ours ror used gar menis of all kinds, including a fine raincoat, and a small parcel or books. Hap/Jy Days-(Mount Albert) —Thanks tc these hnppy Sunbeams for a warm material pram cover and patches amounting tc 23. We also liked the little pair or shoes
Four Kiwis ('rlerne Bay)— The Kiwis have had another busy week, the result being- a cot quilt of 4S knitted patches, warmly lined with woollen material, a scarr and a pair of child's mittens Thanks to these girls. Golden Kowhai (Mount Albert) —The sewing machine is nearly worn out m-Cap-tain Shirley's house, because for weeks It has been whirring 1 away on Sunshine quilts. This week no fewer than eight quilts or different sizes, all of "Star" patches and .lining, have been delivered at \Vendy ? s office. Isn't that wondeiTul work? Fantail (Mangere Bridge)—. Goodness me! or ''Goodness us!" as Peter Pan said when he saw the Fantail gift this week— no fewer than 1200 oranges and lemons! There were -also a pair of bed socks, some dainty baby clothes, new and used, 3d for the fund and two patches. Bravo, Fantails! Cuckoo (Epsom)—-Thanks to these little people for ! i grapefruit and an unltned cot cover or 42 knitted patches. / Corrella Helpers (Devonport)—lt was grand to llnd two very warm and beautifully made quilts In the parcel or these little rrlends or ours—one was an exceptionally nice material cot cover in shades or maroon and white, and the other or 120 knitted patches very cosily lined. Thanks to Yvonile and her friends. Busy Bees (Epsom)— Good work by this club is the order of the day, for this week they oon.:rlbuted four pairs of shoes, used garments in excellent order, 12 graperruit, a pink haby jacket, two pots of sandwich paste, and patches amounting to 20." Busy Brownies (Mount Eden) —How : nice to receive a pumpkin, a pair or shoes, a single bed quilt or "Star" patches, some used baby clothes and books and six ; lemons. Three shilling-s were also very . welcome. Apple Club (City)—A bundle or parcels . rrom the Apple people was, as usual, very welcome. We found not only 1/1 for the rund, but four balaclavas, 12 patches, , mostly joined together, and a pair of \ dainty white silk crochet shoettes. Then , came a bag of apples and lemons, a felt hat, and a further strip of knitting and loose patches equal to 10. Thanks to the : Apple Club. < Two New Zeaianders (Kaihere)—Quite a magnificent list of girts this week from the Two New Zealanders and their sup- , porters. First came from "F.," Taihape, 16 lovely patches sewn together. Then came two beautiful complete baby sets 1 knitted In white wool, a bundle of feeders and a lovely honiiet. Just how beautiful these baby clothes were we have not - r space to describe—you must take our . word ror it! Then we round a delightrul ' quilt or 126 crochet patches contributed by „ "J.M.S.'s" mother and sewn together and lined by 'J.M.S." . The marks for this , quilt reached 165,. so you can imagine * -what a beautiful one it was. The lining was supplied by Wendy, otherwise the points would have been higher. . t * * * * 1 Red Kowhai (Devonport)—We were a pleased to receive a dozen grapefruit, two little knitted caps and two story books. Olivette —We were thrilled t-o receive two beautiful blue winceyette gowns, three matinee jackets and a little white frock. Twentj r -four lemons were also very welcome. t Magic Circle (Green Lane)— Already looking forward to next year are the Maggie Girders, as they send one of their last parcels for this, it contained some welcome things—very good used clothing. 12 , patches, some books and mag-azines, and a splendid heavy overcoat, used but in good order. St, Aidan's Brownies—The liftman chuckled as he saw Wendy going non? ehalantly along the passage with a dole's pram, but he's used to odd things like that. It came rrom St. Aldan's Brownies, and Is going to give great joy to some little girl we know.
Woolly Workers (Mount Eden)— Thank* to the Woolly Workers ror eight patches two used baby garments and a Jigsaw' - puzzle. Later on we discovered a parcel of very good baby clothes, some new some used, patches amounting to 15, three dear, little woolly caps and a sweet pair of white silk bootees. - - Weymouth Happy Sunbeams (Weymouth) —Thanks to you, girls, ror some ~ books, 16 very line patches, mostly' sewn togcther, and a cosy hottie cover. Victory (Hunily)—A new member, Col- V leen Skclton, Is added to the roll, and the Victory Club celebrates by sending aion*two excellent used coats, a pair or gloves and two berets, 1,1 patches, and a lovely gay conire patch equal to ten. Thank you, g-irls. Two Little Sunbeams (Dargavillc) send usr a welcome parcel, which opened to reveal a patchwork material cot cover patches amounting to seven, a dress and a scarr, and a pair or beach shoes. Two Bright Stars (Miirord)—Thanks to these little Sunbeams for some nice used clothing, books, a purse and a kettle' holder. Starlets (Mount Albert) —Thanks to the ever ; busy Starlets ror a parcel or boy's used clothing, a baby bonnet and a tweed skirt, in another bundle we round a • beautirul new bonnet and patches amounting- to 12. There were also three almost new hats. Goodwill Club (Parnell) —Take a deep breath' before you read this! Early in the week came some books and toys, a boy's very good used outfit, no fewer than ~ . seven cosy little .baby garments, all dilferent shades or pastel winceyette, a very pretty cot cover or silk patches, lined wiih llannel, and a school case. These all came rrom Mary, Fay and Lola McDonald for 'the Goodwiir Club. Then came a little :; " pram cover sewn up by Valerie Kerr, a lone member. Now for the loveliest girt of all. Beautifully packed in a silver box came a wonderrul set Tor a lucky babv, dress, bonnet, bootees and nvittens, as well as a lovely.blue set or soap box, powder "■••• shaker, rattle, comb and two little kewpies with happy smiles. In another box . we found another g-own, coa;t and bonnet, v and another little kewpie as happy as his ' brothers. In yet another parcel there were used garments and articles or all sorts, including books, half a dozen hats, two '•£ lovely yellow bonnets, 12 crochet patches ;>■£ joined together in a little pram cover. A single bed quilt of 60 patches lined with bright cretonne and silk, a cot cover ofW'v--35 patches warmly lined with tweed, another cover or dainty crochet patches also .. cosily Jlned were the sum or the Goodwill " £ coverlet efTor>t. Then came no rewer o# three silk dresses, some articles of. underwear, a pair or dainty baby mittens, a beret, some khaki mittens, a silk dress ~ -for a baby, an embroidered "pinny," a -Sfc cosy blue liug-me-tight, and a box of provisions, Including- nour, sugar and six pots of jam. Of the other Goodwill gifts we v > shall tell you next week. * * * • * ;.^n Waihi Club (Waihi) —One and sixpence ror the Hind was most welcome. Dawn's interesting looking parcel -arrived just a lit lie late, and will he opened next week/';#. Wild Rose (Epsom)—lt was so joHv to open a parcel containing one cot quilt or 36 patches, rour little frocks (very good order) and four "pinnies." We also found " "■?>:-! a large blue-patch userul as a centre patch. Welcome to new members Beryl, Joy and Malcolm. , ••* * i Devonport Pixies (Devonport)-—Thanks .p" to our cheery little friend Margery for a> bundle of heavy tweed lining material'and -V a felt hat.
