NO PUBLIC MORTUARY.
HAMILTON", Thursday. "It is a scandal that a town the eize of Hamilton has not got a public mortuary," said Mr. R. Eyre, at today's meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board. "Nearly every other town in the district has one." The comment was occasioned by a letter from the Department of Justice stating that it was not possible to pav the board for post-mortem examinations made at the Waikato Hospital mortuary. The Department had been requested previously by the board to pay 10/6 for each examination until a public mortuary was established in Hamilton. The Department stated that there was 110 authority for makinv such a payment. Further, it considered the services were covered by the Govern- j ment subsidy to the boards
