COUNCIL'S PROPERTY. BLAZE AT MATAURA. ; GORE, this day. ! Fir® early ; this morning extensively ; damaged the Mataura Borough Council ; chambers and Coronation Hall. The brigade was faced with a difficult task owing to the fire having spread from the rear of the building to the ' _ ceiling, and an hour elapsed before the "■•games W ere eubdtfed. mm The public library of 2000 books SUuffered through fire, smoke and water, gfrs also did the reading room. Valuable records were destroyed, H*but the main office escaped lightly. The of the strongroom and office are intact.
