SOME USEFUL EFFORTS. MARSHALL HAIX AND BEAU REPAIRE. Folloiving a severe frost the going on the course proper, 53ft out, was dead and cutting out slightly at Te Kaipa thie morning, when the final triads of horses engaged at Avomlnle took place. Several I useful efforts were recorded, the best of blie morning ibeing those of Beau Repaire, Jlar.sihall Hall, Gaine"s Choice, Agnila, Hii'in-a-Song and Commemoration, while Midland impressed in a schooling bout over two fences. There was little between Beau Repaire (Hall) and Marshall (Ramsay) IP the completion of six furlongs in 1.25. Owing to fog obscuring a section of the course, it was impossible to time them over the early part. Laughing Fox (Bartles) and Olympus (Ramsay) were associated over half a mile in 56 3-ss. Both are making good headway and should not be long in striking form. Gael (Howard) and Tooley Street (McGregor) worked over a round, being timed only over their initial six furlongs, which occupied 1.30. A useful effort was credited to Gaine's Choice (Winder) and Aquila (Hein). who, after traversing the first half-mile .'n 55 4-ss, ran to the six in 1.25. Gaine's Choice is bearing a. healthy appearance and should give a good account of himself in pending engagements. The Nightly three-year-old (Howard) gave Forest Bridge (Gollop) a start and beat him home over half a mile in 56 l-ss. The former is making good progress. Gas Acre (Long) sprinted home over the last couple of furlongs of his r/ork. -Hum-a-Song (Winder) and Commemoration (Hain) were companions over half a mile in 555. doing their work well throughout.
