NEW MILITARY DISTRICT.
PROPOSAL ADVANCED. ROTORUA, this day. A proposal that a separate military district for Rotorua and the Bay of Plenty should be established was received in a letter from Mr. L. R. Wilkinson, Mayor of Tauranga, by the Rotorua County Council yesterday. Mr. Wilkinson stated that the suggestion came from a meeting of local body representatives at Paeroa held to consider the organisation of the Home Guard. A committee was being- set up with the Mayor of Tauranga as convener to discuss the matter and the county council was asked to appoint a representative to attend a meeting in Tauranga. The county chairman, Mr. H. P. r Ford, iwas> appointed county representative if the Rotorua Borough Council should also decide to be represented.
