PRESBYTERY'S WORK.

MILITARY CHAPLAIN'S LEAVE. At a meeting of the Auckland Presbytery last e.vening, over which the Moderator, the Rev. D. R. McDonald, presided, satisfactory reports covering the activities of the Presbytery were presented. It was shown that for an allotted budget of £4107, the Auckland Presbytery had given £6223. Receipts amounting to £2589 were reported by the Presbyterian Social Service Association, which had 'carried out a most successful year's work. The Rev. J. W. McKenzie, of Epsom, who is now a chaplain, wrote tendering his resignation of the charge, and a resolution was passed by the congregation that the resignation lie on the table for twelve months. Leave of absence for the period of his military service was granted to the Rev. R. G. McDowall, of St. Luke's, now on active service as a chaplain. The Presbytery decided to request congregations to observe Sunday next as thanksgiving day for missions. It was also decided to extend an invitation at the next General Assembly for the 1941 Assembly to be held in Auckland.
