FLYER MISSING.
PARNELL RESIDENT. SERGEANT J. BRACEGIRDLE. Advice that his son, Sergeant-Gunner James Bracegirdle, serving with the R.N.Z.A.F. in England, is missing, has been received by his father, Mr. Arthur Bracegirdle, of 7, Heather Street, Parnell. Sergeant Bracegirdle. who was 21 years of age last November, joined up two weeks after the outbreak of war, and went to Levin for preliminary training in the Air Force. Later, he went to Ohakea to train as a gunner, and left New Zealand last March.
Educated at the Paraell School and the Seddon Memorial Technical College, he entered the motor industry as a mechanic, and later became a fireman on the railways. He was a keen League player and played for Parnell, and was also an excellent amateur wrestler. Sergeant 3racegirdle's father, Mr. Arthur Bracegirdle, has had a line military record. During the South African War lie served with the Imperial South Lancashire Regiment, and during the Great War of IUI4-1S served on minesweepers and in the Mnckle Flu«ger patrol, which searched vessels "for contraband. Mr. Bracegirdle has two other sons serving with the forces. One is Captain Owen Bracegirdle, who is attached to the Army Service Corps with the First Echelon in Egypt. The other son is Corporal Jack Bracegirdle, who left with the Second Echelon, and is a member of the Anti-Tank Corps.
