OTAHUHU COURT.
DRINK NEAR DANCE KAUS. Two young men, Arthur Henage Woodroffe and George Walker pleaded guilty to having liquor in their possession near a dance hall at Buckland'a Beach on August 10. A constable on duty- said he found eight bottles of beer in a sack by a car and one man had a bottle of beer in his hand and handed a glass to the other man. Both men denied being the owners of the liquor, and said they had been invited out by a man they did not know. The magistrate, Mft W. R. McKean, said it would be impossible to find out who took the liquor there, and the men's story might be correct. A fine of £2 was imposed with costs 10/ and 11/ respectively. Wilmot James Moore, Koy Clyde Scott, Frederick Harold Angell, Gilbert Farrant and Paul Marks, none of whom appeared to answer similar charges, were each fined £3 10/ and costs.
