AUCKLAND V. WELLINGTON. CAN THEY REPEAT UNBEATEN RECORD OF 1927 TEAMS T Wiuh but one more match to be played, that against Wellington on Saturday next at Athletic Park, the Auckland Rugby representatives are hopeful of maintaining their unbeaten record and rivalling the feat of the 1027 teams. In that year, when Mr. V. R. Meredith was the aelector. Auckland played 10 matches, scoring 241 points with 33 against. This year the representative teams have played seven matches and scored 110 points, against S3. As the result of his continued accuracy with conversions and penalty kicks, W. Hare, the fullback, has been an outstanding point-getter, his total being $3, comprising 13 conversions and 9 penalties. The Auckland forwards, with spectacular passing bouts, have been winning the recent matches, and they have scored twelve tries, of which J. Barry has obtained five. Tbe only back to score more than twice Is Coughlan (3). who waa dropped from the side when Schubert returned to Auckland. The sole selector, Mr. P. W. Lucas, has made no alterations In the side which has played for Auckland in Its last few matches, the personnel being as foUows:—Pull-back. W. Hare; threequarters, L. Schubert, A. Wiles, L. ColmoreWllliams; five-eighths. N. Pearman (captain), R. H. Barlow, half-back. P. V. TeUlaff: front row. R. R. Hull (vlee-captain). A. Johnson, J. Gilmour: second row, D. Ryan, H. Priest, J. Barry. W. Smith; back row, D. Mills. Reserves: Backs. J. Molloy, F. Oooney; forwards, M. Nelson, A. MoflUt, The team will leave for Wellington by the 3 o'clock train on Thursday afternoon. Mr. A. Tilly will be manager, and Messrs. A. J. BUltngton (secretary to the Auckland Rugby Union) and P. W. Lucas will also make the trip.
