OBITUARY.
MR. EDMUND WRIGLEY.
A well known builder of Auckland, Mr. Edmund Wrigley, died on September 28, at the age of 85 yeare. Born in, Yorkshire, Mr. Wrigley came to Auckland 66 years ago. He was for many years a member of the Eden Terrace Road Board. Mr. Wrigley was also a foundation member ,of the Oddfellows , Lodge in Auckland, and for. many years trustee and auditor. ' He filled the position of Grand Master twice, was also Provincial Grand Master, and twice was elected Noble Grand. la recognition of Mr. Wrigley's long service, he was recently made a life member of the lodge.
MR. JOHN NICHOLAS.
A very early settler at Howick, Mr. John Nicholas, died on September 29, at the advanced age of 88 years. He was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and came to New Zealand with his parente in ] 847. His father belonged to the Imperial soldiers who were settled at Howick. Mr. Nicholas was himself on active service during the war with the Maoris. Seventy years ago he secured a freehold of 100 acres of land at Howick, and on it he had lived ever since. Mr. Nicholas was for 17 years a member of the Paparoa Road Board, and for a considerable time a member of the school committee at Howick. He is survived by two sons, Messrs. Hugh and John Nicholas who both live at Howick.
