Dr. Cuthbert McCaw will leave by the express to-night for Dunedin to attend the- funeral of his father. Mr. C. Ryan, Mr. E. J. Parr .(Wellington), Mr. Tims, Mr. Burr (Whakatane) are- at the Commercial Hotel. Arrivals at the Star Hotel are: Mr. H. Gibb, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Britton, Mr. A. W. Britton, Mr. J. Brosnau (Wellington), Mr. J. McEnnis (Whangarei). Mr. .and Mrs. D. Gardner (0:6), Mr. T. Seaton (Tiniaru), Mr. J.' M. Cameron (Hastings), Mr. J. Phillips, Mr. G. Sara, Mr. T. Perrin (Wellington) are at the Royal Hotel. Amongst visitors at the Albert Hotel are: Mr. E. A. Longhurst, Mr. A. McGowan (Wellington), Mr. S. Pitt (Dunedin), Mr. Blanchard (Whangarei), Mr P. E. Charles (Sydney). Commissioner James Hay, of the Salvation Army, at present in Wellington, will leave for Canada on October 22. He will come to Auckland in the weekend preceding to conduct a public farewell meeting. The chairman of the Auckland Transport Board (Mr. J. A. C. Allum) and Mr. E. J. Phelan leave for Wellington to-night to consult with the Municipal Association in regard to the Transport Law Amendment Bill. Sir Walter Stringer was to have arrived in Auckland this morning, but he has gone to Christchurch, to preside at the Assessment Court in connection with the Wainiakariri River case. He will arrive in Auckland on Monday next. Captain H. Studholme (Suva), Mr. W. Rudwick (Sydney), Mr. W. Langdon (Tokomaru Bay), Mr. C. Zander (Wellington), Mr. G. Gill (New .Plymouth), Mr. C. Johnstone (Whatawhata), Mr. W. Johnstone (Tβ Kuiti) are at the Central Hotel. The Rev. Father Moran, assistant Superior-General of the Marist Order, who arrived in New Zealand some months ago, left for Australia by the Makura on Friday. He accompanied the Very Rev. Father Rieu, Superior-General of the Order, to make a tour of inspection of the stations, of the order in the Dominion, Australia, and the Pacific Islands. Though not in the best of health when he arrived, Father Moran is reported to have benefited greatly by his stay in New Zealand.
