RUBBISH TIP FIRE.
A burning rubbish tip fire in Prospect Terrace, Ponsonby, was the cause of the city brigade being called yesterday afternoon about 12.4.3. The tip was a fturly large one and the fire besran under the surface. To ensure the safe extinguishing of the smouldering ashes, water had to bo played on the tip all the afternoon.
