COUNTY CLERKS CONFER.
INSTITUTE OFFICERS. At the annual meeting of the Auckland Provincial branch of the New Zealand Institute of County Clerks, held in Auckland, Mr. C. A. Cawkwell presided, and ■gave a brief account of the work of the executive during the past year. A bill had been prepared with the intention of providing for the registration and exami■nation of county clerks, but it would not be put before Parliament until next year. Officers were elected as follows: —President, Mr. E. Ashcroft (Manukau); vicepresident, Mr. L. J. Verry (Rodney); executive, Messrs. A. Bellingham (Rotorua), E. A. Mahoney (Hauraki Plains). C. A. Cawkwell (Wffitemata), T. B. Insol'l (Waikato); secretary and treasurer. MrF. C. Perry (Waitomo); auditor, Mr. E. G. Akkin (Otamatea). The annual dinner was held subsequently, and afterwarda interesting addresses were given by the chief audit inspector (Mr. Hugh Wylie), the Soutii Auckland Commissioner of Crown Lands (M.r. K. M. Graham), and the North Auckland Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr. 0. X. Campbell). Vocal and other items were rendered by Mesois. J. Mills, J. R. Webster, T. W. Woods. A. Murray, and Messrs- S. Shelton and W. I. Caivkivell were accompanists.
