TRANSACTIONS ON 'CHANGE.
WEEK OPENS QUIETLY. GAS SHARES IN DEMAND. There was the usual Monday morning's quietness at the first call to-day, when most of the week-end quotations were reinstated. The weakness in banks continues. Buyers were by no means keen, and in some cases reduced their last week's offers. Insurances also are quiet, and holders of South British reduced their limits to £3 6/9. Wilsons Cement also eased, with sellers at £2 3/6. British Tobacco and Whittome, Stevenson were both quoted ex dividend, with values readjusted accordingly. A parcel of Inscribed Stock, 5Y 2 (1933) was offered at £101'5/. the Noon Call. Several additional sales were recorded at the noon call, two being of bank shares, in which the weakness of recent quotations was confirmed. Commercials of Australia, with a sale at £ 1 8/8, show a i drop of 2/ on the 10/ share in the month, while one of Union at £14 14/6 shows a reduction of 8/ on the £5 share in the same period. Northern Steam contributing sold at 7/, the highest point reached* for some time. New Zealand Breweries shares commenced firmly with buyers raising their offers again, this time to £4 9/3.
