CANOE CAPSIZED.

LAD'S NARROW ESCAPE.

Capsized out of a canoe on Saturday afternoon near Stanley Point, Norman Armour, aged 17, swam ashore, climbed the cliff and reached the home of Mr. F. J. Claret in an exhausted state. The lad was well cared for and later was taken to his home at Stanley Bay by Mr. Claret. It appears that he had a very hard job to reach the shore. He held on. to the canoe for some time in an effort to save it, but at last realised that Ms. only chance was to strike out for the rocks.
