"NO BLUFF."
PREMIER'S PROMISE. END OF UNEMPLOYMENT. SCHEME NEAR MATURITY. DETAILS NOT ANNOUNCED. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. '"'Although I cannot at this stage give a forecast of the Government's scheme in connection with unemployment, I can assure the country that arrangements are being made to carry the scheme into effect," said the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, when invited to-day to amplify his statement, made in the House on Saturday morning, that in five weeks' time there will be no able-bodied men unemployed. In discussing the matter, Sir Joseph made it clear that the scheme was a reality. He said Reform newspapers could discredit it as much as they liked, call it "bluff" or anything else, but that could not alter a reality, and he was standing by his statement absolutely. Departmental arrangements were In hand, and the matter was. receiving the Government's fullest consideration, so it would be carried into efl'ect.
