RAZOR SLASHING.
MAN AND WIFE WOUNDED BOTH IN HOSPITAL. STORY TOLD NEIGHBOUR. DOMESTIC DISCORD. (Br Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Alleging he had been attacked by his wife with a razor, G. E. St. George, 40. a postal official living at 25, Melrose Street, was admitted to hospital early this morning suffering from fairly severe wounds in the face, neck and arms. Subsequently his wife was also taken to hospital, suffering from similar wounds. Both are progressing toward recovery. A neighbour was aroused by knocking at 1.30 a.m. He found St. George on the doorstep, clad in his pyjamas, with blood streaming from wounds in his face, neck and arms. He asked that the police be sent for, alleging that his wife had attacked him with a razor after a domestic quarrel. The neighbour then investigated, and found Mrs. St. George also suffering from minor wounds. The police were sent for, and the two were sent to hospital. The woman was discharged from the hospital only on Sunday morning, after treatment for illness. There is one child, a boy of six. Neighbours state that relations between the two have been strained for some time. Very little is known about the affair, as no one heard anything until it was all over. The neighbours were in bed, and though several heard a lot of noise, "as though furniture was being thrown about," none took any notice, as it is stated that relations between Mr. and Mrs. St. George had been strained for some time. The first that anyone knew was when a neighbour who lives on the opposite side of the road heard a rattling on his window. He called out tp ask who was there, and a voice answered: "It's St. George here. For God's sake get the police and a doctor, my wife's attacked me. Be quick, before she does for herself."
