Police Eluded By Alleged Thief. CAPTURE IN CAIRO. (Australian Press Assn. —United Service.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 27. When Harold Duucan, 32, was charged at Manchester with the theft of some money, the police alleged that Duncan, by altering a joint account cheque, robbed his partner of £278. Accused disappeared and was discovered to have eailed on the Ormonde on May 25 for Australia. He was arrested at Colombo. Hβ forced the cabin door when the ship arrived at Port Said, hired a motor and travelled to Cairo by the desert road. He was rearrested there. Accused was remanded.
