HA'PENNY TOLL TO HEAVEN.
He put his ha'penny in the bag, And raised his eyes on high: '"Thank God, I've paid the -weekly rent For mansions in tlie sky!" The. Rev. S. Malkinson, rector of Willingham, North Lincolnshire, has inserted this verse in the current issue of his parish magazine as condemnation of poor collections. He states on a recent Sunday night, when more than eighty people were in church, the collection amounted to 10/2 —eight eilver coins totalling 4/9, and the balance of 5/5 in coppers. "Is it not a downright disgrace to the name of religion, an insult to Almighty God, and a dishonour to professing Church people?" he asks.
