THE FRUIT GARDEN.
The planting of citrus trees can still be done. This is a good time to do any pruning or trimming necessary to the citrus trees. The heading back and re grafting of fruit trees should be done now. Trees* that were budded last summer should be headed back to '>• the bud. Peach, Nectarine and Plum trees are now in bloom, and spraying , , operations must be held off for a time. As soon as the petals fall, give a spraying with lime sulphur to; combat leaf curl and brown rot. Under the tres the weeds should be cleaned off, and the soil stirred. An application of manure to stone fruits is particularly beneficial Lemons can be sprayed for scale and brown rot. Use red oil for scale and lime sulphur for brown rot. An application of nitrate of soda will be found beneficial to citrus trees, if applied now.' Finish pruning Apples and Pears; some varieties are already beginning to burst their buds; It is too late to apply caustic sprays. Lime < sulphur 1 to 2B can be applied. This is a good time to plant the more tender fruits, such as Tree ' Tomatoes, Guayas, Chinese Gooseberries, Passion and Grape vines.
