TAURANGA NEWS.
COUNTY CLERK FAREWEIXED. WAIKATO HOUNDS MEETING. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAURANGA, Friday. Justices of the Peace, members of the Bar, and police farewelled Mr. E. J. Gifford, clerk of the Magistrate's Court, who has been transferred to Wellington as inspecting clerk. Mr. B. C. Bobbins (Mayor of Tauranga) presented Mr. Gifford -with a travelling rug on behalf of those present. Eulogistic references to Mr. Gifford'e services were made by Mr. H. A. Sharp on behalf of the Bar. The Waikato Hounds, under the auspices of the Bay of Plenty Hunt Club, met at Gate Pa to-day, after which a gymkhana was held on the racecourse. Mr. Giesen, of Eotorua. won the jumping and Master Phelps the boys' saddling find the best turnout competition. Miss Finlayson won the girls' competition.
