FIRE NEAR HOTEL
«— .. NEW BUILDING MENACED. GOOD SAVE BY FIREMEN.. - (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MORRINSyiLLB, this day. The new Morrinsville Hotel was threatened-with'destruction by a fire which broxe out in a detached building a short distance away from it early this morning. The brigade found the laundry and porters' room blazing. As there are no mains in the locality, the firemen formed a bucket brigade and confined their efforts to saving the house containing the staff's quarters. Their efforts were made more difficult by a strong wind. Though it was scorched badly the house was saved. Had it caught fire nothing would have saved the hotel, all the occupants of which watched the fight. KAITAIA HOUSE DESTROYED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) KAITAIA, this day. Mr. P. Glynan's house in.Kaitaia was burnt down last evening. The family was absent and everything was destroyed. The house, furniture and piano were insured for £400 in the National Office.
