The sensational statement was made 'hy thri Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, 'in the House at 2,15 this morning, that in. five . weeks , time there will be no unemployed men capable of doing work. ... This declaration prompted shouts of gratification, and the Prime Minister repeated it with deliberation. "Although I hope.,, it wilL not be reported," he added, "I want to say we want to watch out that we won't be asked to einplby importations from Australia." Under the Government's land legislation proposals and railways policy, said Sir Joseph, he fully expected to get employment for a large number of men now out of work. . : "Of all the big things the Prime Minister has done," declared Mr. J. S. Fletcher (Grey Lynn), "this one promise to-night will write his name on the hearts of the people of this country. That is the biggest thing that has beon done in his history of New Zealand.
