GOLD PROSPECTING.
NEW WAIHI COMPANY. PROVISIONAL DIRECTORS CHOSEN. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. Tlie committee appointed to form a prospecting and mining company, with a view to the discovery of new ore deposits in the southern (Waihi-Te Aroha-Katikati) section of the Hauraki goldfield, met last evening, when the draft of a prospectus was considered and approved. Provisional directors were appointed as follow: —Messrs. W. M. Wallnutt, J. B. Beeche, E. Dye, H. W. Hopkins, W. F. MacWiiliams, E. A. McLeay and W. H. Toy. The Bank of New Zealand was appointed banker, and Mr. F. C. V. Clark was appointed solicitor to the company. A letter was received from Mr. Geo. C. Creagh, of the Auckland Stock Exchange, stating that he was willing to act in conjunction with three other well-known Auckland brokers in connection with the floating of the company. Promises of support in the matter of taking up shares were received from the South Auckland Enginedrivers and Winders' Union.
Mr. A. B. Nickisson, of Waihi Plains, intimated that as his farm was in direct line with a section of the Waihi reef system, he was prepared to allow boring operations to be carried out on his property. A scheme for preliminary investigation will be decided at a conference of local mining men and Dr. Henderson, Director of Geological Survey.
