HAMILTON TO AUCKLAND. NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP. TO-MORROW'S BIG EVENT. " The 1920 Hamilton to Auckland classic, which is again being promoted by the Auckland Cycle Club, will be held to-morrow, and everything points to a successful race. A good field of 28 riders will take part, and the public are assured of a splendid race, as all the best cash riders from the Auckland province have •entered, including N. H. Bellringer (New Plymouth), last year's winner, and J. A. Henderson, 1927 winner. The first raco was held in 1926, when A. Sutherland (Auckland) took _ the honours off the 15m mark, also gaining fastest time. C. Taylor was second. In 1927 another Auckland rider in J. A. Henderson won off 12m, and W. Brewster, scr. (New Plymouth), was second, and secured fastest time, his figures being 4h 34 l-sm. W. Francis (Papakura) was third. Last year the raco was a triumph for the New Plymouth men, who filled the first three places, N. 11. Bellringer winning off 22m, R. Turdley (18m) being second, and L. Gargan (18m) third. S. Gooch, of Gisborne, gained time honours off 12m, his time being 4h 39m. This race was held in atrocious weather, as was the 1926 event. Fancies for to-morrow's raco take a wido range, but Aucklandcrs with excellent prospects are S. Hayes, .T. Lindop, J. Harcourt, W. Francis, J. Henderson, K. Mathieson, L. Pinfold, G. Hall, F. Lowndes, and J. Jacob. The limit man will leave Hamilton at 11.18 a.m., and the scratch man at noon. The winner should show up at the finishing ground, Recreation Reserve, Onchunga, about 3.45. Given a fine day the riders should make excellent time, as tho roads arc being steadily improved. At the conclusion of the race the prizes won will be presented by Mr. E. Morton, Mayor of Onchunga. It is anticipated a large crowd will be present to view tho finish. The location of the reserve is near the Waikaraka Cemetery.
RACE AT KAIKOHE.
KAIKOHE, Thursday. The bi-monthly road raco of the Kaikohe Cycle Club was decided along the IvaikohcWhangarei road. The distance was about twelve miles and a-half. The weather conditions were good, resulting in a close finish—two-fiftlis" of a second between the first and second men from scratch. There was a good attendance of the public, who are taking great interest in the sport. Results are:—W. Hynson 37m Bs, 1; W. Roberts (scr). 37m 8 2-ss, 2; F. Eisenbut (scr), 37m 28s, 3 ; 0. Hows (4m 30s) 43m Gs, 4.
