GLIDING CLUB FORMED.
UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ACTIVE. A club for the purpose of building and flying gliders and sail-planes was formed by students of the Auckland* University College at a meeting last evning. It will be called the Students' Gliding Club. An outline of the progress made in gliding in other countries, particularly in England, America and Germany, was given by Mr. D. E. Harkness, who presided, and' an interesting address on the construction of gliders was given by Mr. F. C. McDonald, president of the Auckland Model Aero and Gliding Club. It is intended to commence operations as early as possible in the coming summer. The gliders will be built by members of the club and the engineering students at the college. A tentative constitution was approved, the following officers being elected: — President, Mr. D. E.'Harkness; club captain, Mr. G. E. Watt; secretary, Mr. H. S. Bunby; treasurer, Mr. E. W. Harkness; committee, Messrs. C. C. Hunter, H. C. Wiles and R. A. J. Smith. .
