Prohibition Law Evasion In Washington. LIQUOR SERVED IN CLUBS. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) WASHINGTON, September 25. The President,. Mr. Hoover, having issued a peremptory demand that senators who have been declaring that .Washington is one of the "wettest cities in the United States should produce evidence, Senators Howell and Brookhart yesterday replied in the Senate. They instanced certain clubs Avhich served liquor under the protection of a former prohibition commissioner.. They described a dinner attended by senators in a prominent hotel at which liquor was served. Senator Howell asked that General Butler, who several years ago cleared vice conditions in Philadelphia, should be put in charge of the enforcement of prohibition in Washington.
