FORGERY CHARGE.
TRAFFIC LICENSE CLERK. : DISCREPANCIES IN DATES. nI J , (By Telegraph.—Fress Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A clerk in the employ of the city traffic office, Launcelot Louis John Eilers, was to-day committed to the Supreme Court for trial on a charge of forging and uttering a motor-driver's license by anteda tingit.--" : - r - Clifford James Thomas, from whom Eilers was alleged to hava ante-dated the license, because he was sorry that Thomas had been caught by the police when without a license, was similarly committed on a charge of forging and uttering'the license. The magistrate, Mr. E. Page-, S.M., said: "ft does seem to have been a good but stupid act on the part of ,Eilers to. assist someone else." The suspicions of the police as to the license's validity were aroused when it was noticed that although the license was dated September 7, the receipt for it was dated September 9. Accused were allowed bail.
