WORLD'S TALLEST BUILDING.

CHICAGO'S NEW TOWER. SOARS 1022 FEET HIGH. Chicago's newest thoroughfare, Randolph Boulevard, to extend from Michigan Avenue east to the lake, is to have as its initial improvement the world's tallest structure, the gold tip of which will nip the clouds at a point thirty-eight feet higher than the top of the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris. This seventy-five-storey edifice will soar skywards 1022 feet. It is to be called Crane Tower and will house the general offices of both the Crane Company and the Illinois Central Railroad. In addition to being the tallest structure ever erected by man, it will be the world's largest office building, containing 3,500,000 square feet. The net rental area of the biggest office building existing to-day is said to be the Equitable Building in New York City, which contains 1,250,000 square feet. Outstanding .features of this Gargantuan edifice will be garage space for 1000 automobiles of tenants, a bank on the first floor to be organised by the owners and a large convention hall, 80ft by 164 ft, with balcony and several smaller conference halls on the second and third floors. The balance of the space on the second and third floors, 104,000 square feet, will be devoted to exhibition purposes. The 23rd and 24th floors will contain 80,000 square feet devoted to a club for the convenience and service of patrons of the building, and, in addition, a grill and restaurant. The club will have a swimming tank, Turkish baths, gymnasium and forty-eight hotel rooms, each with bath, for use of building tenants or their out-of-town guests. Here is a list of some of the world's tallest structures: Crane Tower, 1022 ft; Eiffel Tower, 984 ft; Bank of the Manhattan Company, New York, 840 ft; Chrysler Building, New York, 804 ft; Woolworth Building, New York, 792 ft; Washington Monument, 555 ft.
