AUCKLAND GRAMMAR EVENT.
NEARLY FOUR HUNDRED RUNNERS. No fewer than 370 competitors faced the starter '.in the Auckland Grammar School's three miles steeplechase yesterday after noon. The boys left the school and ran round Mount Eden, finishing back at the school. Every competitor finished —an excellent performance. Results: — Championhip Open.—Murray,. Form sb. Time, 17.20 1-5. Under seventeen championship : Hewitson, Form 6b. Under sixteen championship: R. W. Smith, Form 6b. Under fifteen championship: Selb'y, modern 4a. Under fourteen championship: Witten, Form 3b. Under 'thirteen championship : Roughton, Form 3a. The following first five in will receive prizes.—Murray, Hewitson, Dowling, Watson, Grant. The following five in order gained places in the handicap event: —Weatherbourne, Himen, Woodrow, Baird, Tho\nas.
