WEDDINGS OF THE WEEK.
SMITH—WANSBONE,
A marriage was celebrated at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Dargaville, when Miss Lucy Wansbone, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Wansbone, became the wife of Mr. Hector Smith, third son of Mrs. and the late Mr. Sydney Smith, of Gisborne. The Rev. T. Roseveare, of Papatoetoe, was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was charmingly attired in oyster cream georgette and oxidised silver lined shell pink georgette. A large cream hat was worn, and a beautiful bouquet of cream and pink sweet peas and stock, with large silver tissue bow, completed a lovely toilette. Her bridesmaid, Miss M. Butler (cousin) wore a jade celaneso ensemble suit and leghorn hat. Her bouquet was of pale lemon daffodils and primroses with lemon streamers. Mr. Alan Bird officiated as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents. Mrs. Wansbone, the bride's mother, received her guests in a frock of black georgette and black hat. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. S. Smith, woro a navy celaneso frock and hat to tone. KEARY—LEE. The wedding of Thomas Patrick, third son of Mrs. M. Koary, of Avondale, and Freda, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Lee, of Henderson, was solemnised at St. Benedict's Church yesterday morning. The Nuptial Mass was performed by Father C'olgan. The bride's father gave her away, and the wedding gown was of ivory satin. The bodice was tight-fitting, the flounced uneven ankle length skirt having flounces of silk net. The veil was embroidered and formed the train, a chaplet of orange blossom holding same in place. She carried a shower bouquet of white carnations, stocks and sweet peas. The (bridesmaid, Miss Bose Devery, was in shell pink georgette, with a shoulder cape, and deep hem of the skirt of the same 'toned satin. A black picture hat and pink shower bouquet completed the toilet. A little flower girl, Betty Lee, niece of the bride, wore a pastel blue accordion pleated crepe de chine, blue headdress, and silver basket of flowers. Mr. J. Keary was best man. A wedding luncheon was served at Nairn's reception room, where the tables were decorated in pink carnations and silver ribbons. The bride's mother wore a floral satin beaute, and black hat. The bridegroom's mother was in navy blue crepe de chine ensemble, and hat to tone. Shower bouquets of primroses and. pansies were carried.
CARMICHAEL—DIXON. The wedding was celebrated at the Salvation Army Congress Hall yesterday afternoon of Gladys May, eldest daughter of Major and "Mrs. J. R. Dixon, of Kotare Avenue, West Lynn, and Andrew, third son of Colonel and Mrs. Carmichael, of Palmerston North. The marriage service was performed by the bridegroom's father, Colonel Carmichael. Entering the church with her father, the bride wore a simply made gown of ivory chenille georgette, made 011 uneven lines. A Juliet cap of pearls, With clusters of orange blossom, held the embroidered tulle veil in place, and she carried a shower bouquet of white blooms relieved with pink carnations. The bridesmaid, Miss Eva Dixon, was in a frock of primrose georgette, the skirt having three tiers. A halo tulle headdress and shower bouquet were in tones of the gown. A little flower girl, Elvie Davie, wore a hyacinth blue crepe fleuri, with posies of yellow and blue cowslips, and pleated tulle headdress. /The best man was Mr. Duncan Stormont. Beautiful pot plants of .single primulas and groups of pink roses in various shades made an attracting setting at the Domain Iviosk for the large attendance of guests for' the wedding breakfast. The bride and bridegroom's mother were dressed in their navy serge army uniforms.
i . : ' MORRISON—BAX. ' A'pretty wedding of two well-known ' young people of the Thames district was ' solemnised at the Anglican Church, Hikutaia, recently, the contracting ' parties'' being Edward Malcolm, eldest ' son of "Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Morrison, of Hikutaia, and Gladys Eva, eldest 1 daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. S. Bax, pf Wharepoa. The Rev. J. Weadon officiated, and Mrs. H. Valentine presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. L. Bax, wore a ? handsome gown of cream silk georgette over taffeta silk, with skirt and yoke of Limerick lacc daintily decoratcd with sprays of orange blossoms. The cmbroided tulle veil was held in position by coronct of orange blossoms, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of carnations, freesias, sweet'peas and asparagus fern, from which hung long streamers of tulle. The bride was attended by Miss Lorna Thompson as bridesmaid, and Miss Thora Morrison (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Kathleen Bax (sister of the bride), who acted as flower girls. Mr. Carl Morrison, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. After the,ceremony was over one hundred guests sat-down to the . -wedding breakfast inthe hall, Mrs. Bax receiving them' in a gown of black ' satin, relieved "at yoke and sleeves with fawn accordeon pleated georgette, and smart fawn hat and fur to match. Mrs Malcolm Morrison, mother of the bridegroom, wore a gown of black georgette and lacc with smart blue hat and fur. Among those present was- Mr. Crier, grandfather of the bride, who is in his. 86th year. In the evening Mrs. Bax entertained a large gathering to a social in the hall, which was tastefully decorated for the occasion.
