TE PUKE TROUBLES.
BUSINESS MEN TO THE RESCUE. (By Telegraph,—Own Correspondent.) TE 'PUKE, this day. ' At a meeting of business residents on Monday, Mr. H. 0. Cooney, in the chair, a statement was made that the Rugby Union was £20 in arrears with its rent, and unable to provide for further financial liabilities, with the result that there was danger ot an admirable playing area being lost. The chairman put it to the residents that the matter was one of interest to the whole community, and after a deal of discussion a board of trustees was appointed to take over the lease of the ground and guarantee (he rent as soon as the deficit of £20 was cleared. Messrs. ,T. E. Alexander, F. H. Wilkie, 11. Cuff, .T. Persey and Geo. Sweetman were appointed the trustees, MessrsH. 0. Cooney and Cyril Walker undertook to canvass the town for contributions.
