At the wool sales 9101 bales were offered, of which 5426 were New Zealand. There was a moderate offering of greasy Merinos, principally Continental style. The improved tone was maintained with prices unchanged. New Zealand greasy crossbreds: Te Puna, 15d to 14d; Tokomaru, 13% to 13d; WDL/A, 13d to 12y a d.
( Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house, dated 25th instant: — The sales continue with good attendance, but competition is irregular; better demand at lower level, but prices show no sign of recovery. As compared with closing rates of last series. Merino, greasy, fine, 10 per cent lower; greasy Merino, other descriptions, 15 to 20 per cent lower; scoured Merino, fine, 10 to 15 per cent lower; average and inferior scoured Merino, 20 per cent lower,, except New Zealand scoured; Merino, good, 7Ms to 10 per cent lower; greasy crossbred, fine, 15 per cent loiyer; greasy crossbred, medium, 7% to 10 per cent lower. The sales close on October 4. DAIRY PRODUCE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., has received the following cable from its London house, dated September 25: — Butter.—Choicest, 182/ to 184/ per cwt. Cheese. —White, 93/ to 94/ per cwt. Market quiet. CHICAGO WHEAT VALUES. (Australian and N.Z. Pre.ss Association.) CHICAGO, September 25. Wheat for delivery in Septemberis quoted at Chicago at $1.27% per bushel. For December delivery the rate is for March $1,40, and for May $1.44.
