THE CANCER SCOURGE.

Nothing pleased me more than reading in your issue of Saturday a notice to the effect that the layman is invited to discuss this problem. When the margin between the lay and the professional mind is narrow the position might bo easily bridged. In a casual fireside conversation during the week, in which I took 110 part, I noticed in passing references to deceased persons the number mentioned was nine and six had died from cancer. This state of things is appalling. COMMON WEAL.
