THE EGYPTIAN OUTLOOK.
The political situation in Egypt is described as "complicated and obscure," and there does not seem to be yet much hop© of inducing either Parliament or people to accept the new Treaty. It will be remembered that, by this new agreement, Britain agreed to evacuate Egypt in a military sense almost entirely, i stationing a small garrison in ijbe Canal zone and reserving to herself freedojn of action in regard to the Sudan. But even these great concessions are not enough for the Nationalists and they positively refuse to co-operate with Mahmoud P&sha, the present Prime Minister, in forming a new Government The King, therefore, is maintaining the set up some months ago, and the {suspension of constitutional government will probably continue till the Nationalists are reduced to a more reasonable frame of mind.
