SCOTT BEATS CAMPOLO. DECISION ON POINTS. NEW YORK, September 23. The heavy-weight boxing contest between Vie Campo:o and Phil Scott was won by the latter on points at the end of the tenth round. Campolo weighed 2231b and Scott 2151b. There was a dispute over the oil which Scott had rubbed on the tape on his hands, but the Argentinian declared the Englishman could use as much of the latter as he liked. In the first round Campolo took the offensive, but Scott rocked the Argentinian with lefts and rights to the head. Campolo then tore into Scott and had him in distress. It was Campolo's round. Campolo drew blood from his opponent's nose with a left in the second round, and they were slugging away furiously at the bell. The referee had to pry them apart. It was Scott's round. In the third round the Englishman outboxed his opponent, Campolo having trouble in penetrating Scott's guard. It was Scott's round. Both were showing evidence of punishment in the fourth. They were bleeding from the mouth and both were tiring. The round was even. In the fifth Scott got over several right hard smashes to the head, and he rocked Campolo with a left hook to the chin. It was Scott's round. Campolo rocked the Englishman with a right to the head in the sixth, but both seemed weary, and the action slowed up, particularly as Scott assumed the defensive. Campolo was warned for hitting low with his left. It was Campolo's round. In the seventh Campolo landed a right to the head and rushed the Englishman with both hands, scoring throughout. It was Campolo's round. The men were fighting with botli fists in the eighth, but Campolo had the better of the exchanges, staggering the Englishman with a terrific blow to the chin, but Scott was a willing mixer. The round was even. In the ninth tiie referee warned Scott for pushing Campolo in the face with his open glove. It was a round of close in-fighting, but Campolo was showing up and appearing discouraged. It was Scott's round. Scott rushed his man all over the ring in the tenth, and Jiad the better of the exchanges as the fight came to an end. It was Scott's round, and lie won the decision, which was popular.
