GERMAN TRAIN SPEEDS.
AGAIN NEARING MILE A MINUTE. For the first time since 1914 a German train has attained a, scheduled speed exceeding ninety kilometers an hour. It is the "FD" train running between Berlin and Paris, On the 109-mile stretch between Hanover and Hamra it mamtains a speed of 90.5 kilometers, or 57.2 miles an hour, and its average for the 360 miles from Berlin to Cologne, including stops, is just under 51§ miles an hour. The summer schedule of the German Railroad Company also includes several other trains that*reach a speed of from 53.3 up to 55.7 miles an hour for part of their runs, and a high average on long Tuns. Ono covers the 324 miles between Beriin and Frankfort-on-Main at an average speed of 45.7 miles au hour, and the fast Berlin-Munich train averages 43.9 miles over this distance of 404 miles, despite heavy grades in Middle Germany.
