(Received 11.30 a.m.)

BRISBANE, this day.

A drowning tragedy is reported from Cairns. Four men were thrown into the water when a big wave capsized their fishing boat. Two of them, Ronald Brown and Vincent Ebrington, were drowned. Michael Hese swam three miles through shark infested waters to the mainland, and' a fourth man, named Cook, was rescued by a lugger. He was in the water nearly three hours and made a gallant attempt to assist Ebrington, who eventually became exhausted and sank.
