BLAZE IN PONSONBY.

Fire gutted an unoccupied twostoreyed house of eight rooms at the corner of New and Dublin Streets, Ponsonby, about 8.30 last evening. Although the fire had such a hold that flames were issuing from nearly all the windows when the brigade arrived, the firemen managed to get the blaze in the upper storey sufficiently under control to enter.

The walls, roof and first floor were left standing, but the interior of the liouse was badly damaged.
